HI THERE!

I’m an elementary art teacher based in Leavenworth, Kansas. I believe that in order to have students buy-in to my content area, they need to know that the one giving instructions is not only artistically knowledgeable, but skillful and involved as well.

They say, “Those that don’t do, teach.” I disagree. Check out the evidence.

I always knew I wanted to do something art-related with my life, but growing up, I wasn’t sure what that was. My chosen major at the Kansas City Art Institute was graphic design—simply because I couldn’t decide what media to stick with, and design seemed to have the potential to utilize them all.

I fell in love with design, but came to the realization that the position of designer was not my current calling. Teaching had always strongly interested me, and so after graduating from KCAI, I received a teaching degree from University of MissouriKansas City. I gained a lot of technical information and experience from my education courses, but it turns out that art school has really helped develop my educational philosophy.

Although I’m a public school teacher, I still like to keep one foot in the art & design world. This website includes work that ranges from professional projects to quick, experimental work. In addition to my stuff, I’ve also included some impressive student work!
